Unfortunately there are no local sources or purveyors of brewing yeast. I haven’t vetted this, but this farm near Sisters has a page to purchase hops, with whole leaf Cascade and Chinook listed. I reached out and found that there are currently no hops available check back later in the year. One we haven’t heard much from recently but still around. No direct list of hop varieties but what I can see on the site for previous years included Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Crystal, and Nugget. The website currently appears to be down, but they can be contacted at (541) 388-5626 or tumalohopsco -at- gmail -dot- com. The oldest among the local farmers, they grow five varieties: Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Nugget, and Kent Golding. For the rest of the year, you can try contacting one of the various local hop growers and see if they have hops available for homebrewers. Homebrewers often seem to have an abundance of hops on hand-I have a bunch in my freezer-and there’s a good chance that come summertime there’s ready access to home grown hops. You’ll either have to travel a few hours to another homebrew supply store (I’ve listed some below), or order this online (also listed some resources below). It’s unfortunate, but there are no local options for either liquid or dried malt extract for extract brewers. I’d suggest trying instant corn grits which can go directly into the mash. If you’re adventurous you might try your hand at roasting your own malts in the oven for those darker colors and flavors.Īnd as far as oats and corn go, you can buy both at the grocery store. But it’s fresh and local and provides an authentic Central Oregon terroir you won’t find elsewhere. No, it’s not a wide selection, and you’re limited if you’re looking for things like biscuit or aromatic malt, chocolate and other dark and roasted malts, other grains like oats and corn, and so on. Mecca Grade also sells several raw grains as well. Mecca Grade offers five base malts, two caramel or crystal type malts, two wheat malts, and a rye malt, all grown and malted right there on the farm. Central Oregon is fortunate to have its very own maltster, Mecca Grade Estate Malt, located in Madras. This is a big one, particularly when it comes to specialty grains. So this begs the question, where is the community going to gets its homebrew supplies? So I thought I’d put together a list of ideas and resources to help keep the homebrewers active while we wait for The Brew Shop to reopen (if/when it does).Īnd of course, with current closures and social distancing in full effect due to the pandemic, you may not be able to follow up with these yet. (I don’t know if the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic accelerated the closure.)Ĭentral Oregon has a thriving, active homebrew community, and The Brew Shop has been here in various forms since the 1990s. The Platypus is already closed, and the lease on the building expires at the end of the month, so after the 31st there will be no homebrew store in Bend. The Brew Shop is the region’s sole homebrew supply store, and unfortunately the owners have been unable to find a new location (so far). It’s been coming for awhile: the owner of the property here in Bend that houses The Brew Shop and the Platypus Pub is planning to raze the building to put in a drive-thru coffee stand and retail space.

This is just a simple reference sheet I wanted for my self to get an idea where I need my loads to be at what temp to find max distance, I went through the trouble so I thought maybe someone else could use it.Īdding some margin is probably useful for most cases. If someone wants to use 1.1 then they can take the middle column and multiply by 1.1 to get their numbers. For shooting if one uses my numbers there should be little question as to whether or not they have to worry about stability due to going transonic. Thus the huge change in wing profiles for supersonic flight.Įverything I have read from wikipedia to the tech reports from the Ballistics Research Laboratory at Aberdeen tends to agree that mach1.2 and above would be a "safe" number for our purposes out of the transonic zone, If I had done mach1.1, I would have been told I should have used 1.2. One of Bernoulli's assumptions is NO standing pressure waves. These discontinuities may result in Mach wave separation (often incomplete) slightly above the speed of sound for a slowing bullet. Surface discontinuities (like the cannelure often used to lock the jacket to the core) create localized flow discontinuities resulting in the attachment of Mach waves when the projectile is just below the speed of sound. Traditionally +/- 10% has been used (90% on the way up, 110% on the way down). I think it was about 5fps difference from zero to 100% humidity. Now if you add in humidity you are adding water, water molecules have less mass than oxygen and nitrogen so adding humidity reduces density but pressure and temp can stay the same so humidity does have an effect. The slowing down from the effects of density is cancelled out by the heating effects of pressure. Now from what I have read, pressure and density are proportional and so are their effects. If you make it really dense it might make the molecules really close together but it shouldn't change their speed but would change the amount molecules the sound has to go through perhaps slowing it down. If you pressurize air what effect will it have on the air? I guess it would raise the temperature causing the molecules to move faster. As I understand it, sounds is transferred through a medium by the collision of molecules, heating those molecules makes them move faster and have more energy so they collide with other molecules in a shorter amount of time so the sound/wave moves through the medium faster. That I don't believe everything I read on the Internet.įair enough, what is hard to believe, the altitude thing? You just have to think how sound transfers through a medium and what effect altitude would have on that medium. The answer is simple, if you want a perfect encrypted DVD copy solution then you should use it. The question arises why someone should use DVDFab DVD Copy for Windows 10. Part 1: DVDFab DVD Copy: Decrypt and Copy Encrypted DVDs on Windows 10 So in this article, we will discuss some best DVD decrypters for Windows 10 namely DVDFab DVD Copy, DVDFab DVD Ripper, and DVDFab HD Decrypter. A DVD decryption software will decrypt an encrypted DVD and help you make copies of it legally. You first have to decrypt that DVD and for this, you will need a special DVD decryption software. You can’t just directly copy an encrypted DVD if you do so all you will see is scrambled data. But the copy process is a little bit tricky, though a free video downloader works well. If someone owns such a DVD that he/she may choose to make a copy of it. There are two types of DRM schemes used by DVDs today which are “Content Protection for Recordable Media (CPRM)”, or by “Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)” in the “Advanced Access Content System (AACS)” DRM scheme. Commercially produced DVDs have some type of encryption which is used to prevent illegal copying and disc cloning. Encrypted DVDs hold scrambled data which can’t be easily played by any random media player. It’s notation software you might comfortably use alongside Cubase – or Ableton Live, or Reaper, or Pro Tools, or whatever. Part of why even fairly novice musicians often wind up demanding “high-end” notation software is just that – the potential needs users have can run a huge gamut.īut yes, Dorico 4 puts together Cubase-style MIDI editing with notational know-how that has evolved over generations of music scoring software. There are rules, yes, but they were made for humans, not computers. It is also a process that evolved as a specialized practice of people producing scores by hand. Making something really fit neatly on the page is usually a separate process and wants the opposite of that. To put it more simply: when you’re working with actual music, you’re constantly changing stuff and messing it up. Dorico 4 – really, not Cubase/Nuendo, though the comparison is intentional. Even without getting to the invention of the computer, the problem had always been that what composers, arrangers, orchestrators, and musicians do was separate from the role of engraver. It’s a tall order if you want to really produce publishing-grade output. It gets right at the crux of how music-making is evolving.ĭorico, built with the team who led the development of now Avid-owned Sibelius, already has some strong roots in making score production more fluid. There are many deeper challenges to trying to fuse essentially late 19th-century western concert score practice and hand engraving with 21st-century global electronic music, which are way too much to go into here in an upgrade preview, but suffice to say that all that tension is really interesting. But notation remains potentially wonderful – for all its limitations and specific cultural boundaries, there remain tons of people who can read it really fast. Once you’ve seen MIDI, it’s hard to see a score the same way. (Just in case you want to pick up an Atari and some 1987 software.) Even Apple’s Logic started as something called “Notator.” Like Cubase itself, it was a combination score writer – MIDI editor. Successfully marrying MIDI and scoring has been a long, long time coming. Jordan's opinion was that Stewart's first mission began badly. Jordan explained that he just felt that even though Stewart might have the integrity for the task, he "obviously would have a chip on his shoulder bigger than the rock of Gibraltar." Although Jordan objected to the decision after seeing that Stewart had a belligerent attitude to authority figures, the Guardians stood by their decision and chided Jordan for his supposed bigoted outlook on the issue. Modern Comic Green Lantern (John Stewart) Drummer Tommy Ramone recalled: "Craig Leon is the one who got us signed, single handed. After being persuaded by Craig Leon and his ex-wife Linda Stein, Ramones auditioned at Sire and were offered a contract, although the label had previously signed only European progressive rock bands. Producer Craig Leon, who had seen the Ramones perform in the summer of 1975, brought the demo to the attention of Sire Records' president Seymour Stein. Featuring the songs "Judy Is a Punk" and " I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend", the band used the demo to showcase their style to prospective labels. On September 19, 1975, Ramones recorded a demo at 914 Sound Studios, which was produced by Marty Thau. Fields agreed because the band "had everything ever liked," and became the manager in November 1975. Word was getting out, and people starting coming down." Convinced that the band needed a recording contract, Robinson contacted Danny Fields, former manager of the Stooges, and argued that he needed to manage the band. She said that we changed her life she started writing about us in Rock Scene, and then Lenny Kaye would write about us and we started getting more press like The Village Voice. The group's vocalist Joey Ramone related that "Lisa came down to see us, she was blown away by us. In early 1975, Lisa Robinson, an editor of Hit Parader and Rock Scene, saw the fledgling Ramones performing at CBGB and subsequently wrote about the band in several magazine issues. The band, performing in a style similar to the one used on their debut album, typically performed at clubs in downtown Manhattan, specifically CBGB and Max's Kansas City. Ramones is considered an influential punk album in the US and UK, and had a significant impact on other genres of rock music, such as grunge and heavy metal. Many later deemed it a highly influential record, and it has since received many accolades, such as the top spot on Spin magazine's list of the "50 Most Essential Punk Records". Ramones was unsuccessful commercially, peaking at number 111 on the US Billboard 200, though it received glowing reviews from critics. Ramones contains a cover of the Chris Montez song " Let's Dance". The songs are also rather short at two-and-a-half minutes, "I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement" is the album's longest track. Most of the album's tracks are uptempo, with many songs measuring at well over 160 beats per minute. The album opens with " Blitzkrieg Bop", which is among the band's most recognized songs. Violence, drug use, relationship issues, humor, and Nazism were prominent in the album's lyrics. The Ramones also began touring to help sell records these tour dates were mostly based in the United States, though two were booked in Britain. After its release, Ramones was promoted with two singles, which failed to chart. The back cover depicts an eagle belt buckle along with the album's liner notes. The record company paid only $125 for the front photo, which has since become one of the most imitated album covers of all time. The album cover, photographed by Punk magazine's Roberta Bayley, features the four members leaning against a brick wall in New York City. The Ramones began recording in January 1976, needing only seven days and $6,400 to record the album. Leon persuaded Sire president Seymour Stein to listen to the band perform, and he later offered the band a recording contract. Fields agreed and convinced Craig Leon to produce Ramones, and the band recorded a demo for prospective record labels. After Hit Parader editor Lisa Robinson saw the band at a gig in New York City, she wrote about them in an article and contacted Danny Fields, insisting that he be their manager.
